"Italy has now become incredibly easy and cheap to get to, and this means many more of us can now go there. My best advice is to get out of the touristy places and into the real Italy, where good food and wine do not cost much........ If you use some basic Italian phrases, put a smile on your face, have enthusiasm and a twinkle in your eye, you can pretty much guarantee that you'll be looked after by the Italians." - Jamie Oliver

Lampascioni - Food or Flowers?

Lampascioni are harvested in Puglia early in the year. Identified as wild onions they are actually the bulbs of the wild tassel hyacinth. With a bitter flabour they are usually picled in oil or brine but can be cooked and served as a vegetable or incoprated into a casserole type recipe. lampascioni - wild onions
